Angkor: Promotional Activities
© UNESCO 2003
"Since the Angkor programme was launched in 1993, UNESCO has attached great importance to promotional activities for field operations carried out within the frame-work of the UNESCO/Japanese Funds-in-Trust for the safeguarding of the World Cultural Heritage.
Seven documentary films were produced between 1996 and 2003, in order to promote activities executed by the JSA, especially in Bayon.
An important exhibition of photography on Angkor was also organized at UNESCO in 1998.
A CD-ROM, containing the proceedings of the first six symposia on Bayon, was published in 2003. This CD-ROM has been distributed widely to the international scientific community specializing in the study and conservation of archaeological monuments and sites. The information contained on the CD-ROM is also available for consultation on the UNESCO Website.
A film co-financed by Japan and France giving an overview of a decade of international cooperation at Angkor will be presented on the occasion of the 2nd Intergovernmental Conference on the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor, to be held in Paris in November 2003.
