27 May 2024: Participation of Ambassador Kano in "Kura Master 2024"
On May 27, His Excellency Mr. KANO Takehiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO, took part in Kura Master 2024, organized by Kura Master Association. Back-to-back with this event, were held a reception and a masterclass, giving him the opportunity to exchange views with stakeholders involved in promoting sake/shochu in France, and to discover the pairing of sake/shochu and charcuterie proposed by Mr. Romain LEBŒUF (M.O.F. Boucherie 2015).
In his speech preceding the masterclass, Ambassador Kano announced that Japan has submitted a nomination for “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan” to be inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December at the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, to be held in Asunción (Paraguay), and that the Japanese Permanent Delegation is working hard to achieve this goal.
The Delegation will continue to pursue this path in partnership with the private sector so that as many people as possible can discover the charms of Japanese sake culture.
