2 October 2024: Participation of Ambassador Kano in "Kura Master award ceremony"

     On 2 October, His Excellency Mr. KANO Takehiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO, attended the award ceremony for the Jury Prize in each category of the 2024 Kura Master competition, namely Japanese sake, authentic shochu & awamori and plum wine, the Special Prize for Alliance Gastronomy and the President's Prize for the best Japanese sake and authentic shochu & awamori. The event took place at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to France and was organized by the Kura Master Association.
 
     Ambassador Kano expressed his pleasure at the fact that sake, plum wine, shochu and awamori - key elements of the Japanese culinary tradition - foster a cultural bond between France and Japan, and hoped that the awards would be an opportunity to further promote and encourage cultural exchanges between the two countries.
 
     Ambassador Kano also mentioned the “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan”, which has been proposed for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and will be discussed at the next session of the Intergovernmental Committee in Asunción, Paraguay, in December. He said he would work actively for its inscription.
