4 October 2024: Tasting of Kura Master Award-winning Sake

     On 4 October, a saké tasting was organized at the Residence of the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO. The event was attended by many guests mainly from the UNESCO Secretariat and Permanent Delegations to UNESCO who tasted the various Sake awarded during the 2024 Kura Master competition.

     Ambassador Kano presented the “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan”, whose candidature will be discussed at the next session of the Intergovernmental Committee in Asunción, Paraguay, in December, He also touched on the history and characteristics of the koji-molded brewing process, the growing popularity of Japanese sake in the world and the challenge of preserving the traditional techniques of sake-brewing.  

     The tasting was also attended by the Kura Master Association, the organizer of the competition, and the winners of this year's competition, and there was a lively exchange between the participants.
