11 March 2025: Koto recital by Ms Fuyuki Enokido

     On 11 March, a Koto recital by Ms Fuyuki Enokido was organised at the Residence of the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO. Ms Enokido has a wide range of experience of performing on major stages, including at Japan House in London in 2012 in support of Japan's bid to host the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and at the social gathering hosted by Prime Minister of Japan during G7 Summit in Hiroshima in 2023. She is very active both in Japan and abroad. The event was attended by a large number of participants, including members of the UNESCO Secretariat and Permanent Delegates to UNESCO, who enjoyed Ms Enokido's Koto performance.
 
     The recital included a medley of five pieces, among which ‘Hana wa Saku’ (Flowers will Bloom) to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the 11 March 2011 earthquake that devastated Eastern Japan, ‘Ureshii Hina Matsuri’ (Happy Doll Festival) which introduces traditional Japanese seasonal culture, and Ms Enokido's original piece, ‘Usukurenai no Kisetsu’ (The Season of Light Pink).
