2025/4/2

On 2 April, the 2024 Dirac Medal Award Ceremony was held at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy, to award the Dirac Medal to four researchers, including Professor Shinsei Ryu of Princeton University and Professor Tadashi Takayanagi of Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) of Kyoto University, for their outstanding contributions to the “insights on quantum entropy in quantum gravity and quantum field theories.”
The ICTP Dirac Medal was established in 1985 in honour of the great theoretical physicist Paul Dirac and has since been awarded for major contributions to the field of theoretical physics. Notable recipients of the award include Professor Yoichiro Nambu, who was honoured in 1986 and subsequently awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2008.
Ambassador Kano was present at the ceremony. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the four laureates and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
