On May 26, His Excellency Mr. KANO Takehiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO, took part in "Kura Master 2025", organized by Kura Master Association. Ambassador Kano also participated in a reception and master class held for this occasion. This gave him the opportunity to exchange views with stakeholders who are involved in promoting Japanese alcohol in France, and to enjoy pairing of sake and oysters from Hiroshima, as well as Mediterranean seafood, presented by Ms. Sonia BICHET (2023 Best Craftswoman of France (MOF), Fishmonger & Scaler) in the presence of Mr. YUZAKI Hidehiko, Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture.

Ambassador Kano seized this opportunity to present the inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan” during the last session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held last December in Asunción (Paraguay).

The Delegation will continue to collaborate with all the stakeholders so that as many people as possible can discover the charms of Japanese sake culture.
