20 November 2025: Reception Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Adoption of the UNESCO Constitution, the 75th Anniversary of Japan’s accession to UNESCO, and the 20th Anniversary of JFIT’s Support for Education to Sustainable Development (ESD)

 On 20th November, Ambassador Kano hosted a reception at UNESCO Headquarters to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the UNESCO Constitution, the 75th anniversary of Japan's accession to UNESCO, and the 20th anniversary of JFIT's support for Education to Sustainable Development (ESD). On this occasion, Mr. Matsuura Koichiro, the 9th Director-General of UNESCO, and Prof. Khaled El-Enany, the newly appointed Director-General, delivered speeches. Video messages were also projected, sent from Ms. Irina Bokova, the 10th Director-General, and Ms. Audrey Azoulay, the 11th Director-General. Senior UNESCO officials, members of the UNESCO Japanese staff, representatives from various Permanent Delegations to UNESCO, and several artists, also participated.

 In his speech, Ambassador Kano reaffirmed Japan's commitment to UNESCO's ideals under the leadership of the new Director-General, Prof. El-Enany.

 In addition to Saké, provided by the Kura Master Association, the guests had the opportunity to experience Japanese culture through a tea ceremony presented by the Franco-Japanese Association for the Tea Ceremony, led by Mr. Mori Soyu, with the participation of sumi-e artist Ms. Inoue Yoshimi and ceramic artist Mr. Matsubayashi Hosai.
