On 14 January, Ambassador Kano held a New Year Reception at his Residence, in honor of UNESCO Japanese staff and Japanese journalists based in Paris.
In his speech, Ambassador Kano extended his best wishes to the guests for the New Year, and reflecting on the situation at UNESCO since last year, expressed Japan's determination to support UNESCO under the new Director-General, bearing in mind that this year marks the 75th Anniversary of Japan’s membership. Representing the UNESCO Japanese staff, Mr. Mizunoya Suguru, Technical Cooperation Team Leader at the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), also delivered remarks, highlighting the importance of communicating on UNESCO’s activities.
The reception took place in a friendly atmosphere and provided an opportunity for fruitful exchanges.
Many Japanese staff members work in diverse fields at the UNESCO Secretariat, drawing on their own experience and expertise. Our Delegation will continue to support Japanese staff members working for UNESCO and to communicate about their activities through our website.
