10 February 2026: Japan's Support for Palestine through UNESCO (Signing Ceremony)

On February 10, in Ramallah, Palestine, H.E.Mr. Araike Katsuhiko, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and the Representative of Japan to Palestine, and Ms. Sarah El Attar, Head of UNESCO’s Office in Ramallah ad interim, signed the financial arrangement letter regarding a voluntary contribution from Japanese Government to Palestine through UNESCO amounting 141 million yen, or approximately 940,000 USD, for the Project “Supporting Livelihood and Economic Recovery through Accelerated Skills Training for Palestinian Youth.” Ambassador Kano attended online from our Permanent Delegation in Paris.
Ambassador Kano delivered remarks, emphasizing the Japanese Government's continued support for Palestine through UNESCO. He expressed the hope that this project would benefit to Palestinian youth and lead to a sustainable economic recovery and social stability in Palestine.
The Japanese Government has decided to contribute to 17 projects through UNESCO, including this project, for Ukraine, Palestine, and countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East as part of the FY2025 supplementary budget.
