22-25 March 2026: Maintenance works of the ‘Garden of Peace’ by the Japan Federation of Landscape Contractors and visit of the Garden by Prof. Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO

From 22 to 25 March, at UNESCO Headquarters, technicians from the Japan Federation of Landscape Contractors (JFLC), carried out maintenance works of the ‘Garden of Peace’ designed by Isamu Noguchi. On the final day, 25 March, Ambassador Kano and Prof. El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO, visited the garden to meet the technicians and observe their work.
These maintenance works followed on from the large-scale restoration project carried out last September, with JFLC technicians working alongside volunteers from the Association française du Jardin japonais (AFJJ), mainly to prune the cherry trees.
