2026/4/27
On April 27, Ambassador Kano attended a masterclass organized by the Kura Master Association at Pavillon Ledoyen in Paris and delivered the closing remarks.
To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Kura Master Association, organizer of a Japanese alcohol competition in France, Mr. Yannick Alléno, a famous Chef representing the French gastronomic world, was invited to the Masterclass, which focused on the pairing of his cuisine with a variety of sake made from the "Yamada Nishiki" rice. Sake professionals from the Hyogo Prefecture and other regions across Japan, as well as from various regions of France, participated in this special occasion. This year marks the 90th Anniversary of the birth of "Yamada Nishiki,". Explanations were also given regarding the characteristics of the rice and the strict seed management required to maintain its high quality.
In his speech, Ambassador Kano expressed his hope that Japanese sake, internationally recognized as an element of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, could play an important role as a bridge for cultural exchange between Japan and France, and with countries around the world.
