The 18th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Kasane, Botswana from 5 – 8 December 2023, inscribed 55 new cultural practices to the Intangible Cultural Heritage List in response to nominations submitted by 72 countries.
The number of inscriptions in Africa has significantly increased. In addition, 5 countries inscribed their practices for the first time during this session: Angola, The Bahamas, Cameroon, Djibouti and Grenada.
