18– 20 December 2023: Transforming Education Together: ESD-NET Global Meeting

On 18-20 December 2023, MEXT and UNESCO co-organized the first ESD-NET Global Meeting (financed under the UNESCO/MEXT Funds-in-Trust) in Tokyo, under the international framework for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for the period 2020-2030, based on the roadmap "Education for Sustainable Development: towards the realization of the SDGs (ESD for 2030)".
Approximately 250 educators from more than 80 countries implementing ESD initiatives gathered for presentations on good practices in ESD, group discussions and visits to UNESCO associated schools. This helped to raise global awareness of the ESD activities centred on UNESCO associated schools in Japan and strengthen the networks between the parties concerned, as well as to agree on actions to be taken in each region to promote ESD over the next two years, leading to further global promotion of ESD.
